Location:
Casa Lucertola is in central Italy, to the east of the Appenine
mountain range in the region of le Marche - the calf of Itay.
Although the casa stands alone, accessed via an unmade white
road, it is only a few minutes drive from the beautiful hill-top
town of San Ginesio and the main S78 road to Macerata (see
map).
Casa Lucertola makes an ideal base for walking and exploring
the Sibillini National Park. But unless you are an ardent hiker
a car is also necessary. Driving from the UK takes about 20hrs
on the road.
I usually fly to Bologna but other airports in the area are
well served by flights from the UK with driving times varying
between 1hr 15 min and 3hr 45 min.
Rome - Ciampino Airport. 3hr 15min. Ryanair from East Midlands,
Liverpool, Edinburgh.
Rome - Fiumicino Airport. 3hr 45min. Easyjet from London Gatwick.
Bologna - Airport. 3hr 10min. British
Airways from London
Gatwick.
Ancona - Airport. 1hr 15min. Ryanair from Stanstead.
Pescara - Airport 1hr 45min. Ryanair from Stanstead.
Rimini - Airport 2hr 15min. Ryanair from Stanstead.
